My book is out, a little earlier than I expected.
Today I went to claim my author copies of Synchronicity in Grief: Reconstructing Meaning After Loss (Routledge). That's when I found out the eBook is already live, more than two weeks before the official October 19 release. For a book about meaningful coincidences, that felt about right.
Many grieving people describe experiences that feel deeply meaningful: birds arriving at special moments, rainbows in the sky, a herd of deer appearing at the moment of an important person's death. People often keep these to themselves for fear of being dismissed or pathologized. This book takes those experiences seriously.
It draws on phenomenological interviews across birth parent, pet, grandparent, parent, and life partner loss. It brings Jungian theory together with continuing bonds and meaning reconstruction. Each chapter includes practical exercises for clinicians, along with guidance for responding to clients' synchronistic experiences with curiosity.
It's written for grief counselors, therapists, chaplains, healthcare providers, bereavement researchers, and the bereaved themselves.๐ eBook available now:
๐๏ธLibraries: available through Taylor & Francis eBooks. Please consider recommending it to your institution's library.๐
Print releases October 19, Kindle October 19.
My deepest thanks to the participants who trusted me with their stories.
